For instance, if you have a room with a more formal decorum, then a shelf with a rounded front or perhaps one with hand carving or a cherub design would be more appropriate. For a casual room, a wall mounted shelf with a simple molded front would fit best.
Tip 4: Unfinished vs. Finished - This is a big decision. If you're not that handy with a paint brush go for the finished product. If you can think you can handle it (it's not that hard... fun actually) go for the unfinished shelf. It's really hard to tell what your going to get when it's pre-finished and for this reason I always buy unfinished because it allows you to pick the perfect stain or paint to match the room. There are tons of colors and shades to choose from so you can be sure to get just the right look. Here's an extra tip. If your looking to find the right stain, do some samples on the BACK of the shelf - no one will ever see it.
