pregnancy and giving birth at rosie hospital.?

I am going to give birth in jully, but alittle woried about how it is going to be.when i get to the hospital will i get to choose my midwife who will be helping me in delivery or not.It is my first experience ,so i would like to be in hand of a quilified and experienced midwife-also i wonder if is it up to me to choose to have a epidural or will be decided for me- and by the way who are the personnel in green colour or maybe blue.
many thanks

ok when you go into hospital you will have phoned first to say you are on your way. when you get there they will have a midwife ready to see you, she will then deal with you throughout your labour. if you dont like her you can request another midwife. but generally you will get whoever is free at the time.
they wont be with you the whole time you are in hospital, they will do an internal when you get there and see how far dilated you are, they will discuss what you want to do, pain relief have a bath etc and then once you are settled leave you to it, they will check on you frequently, you will have a call button and of course birthing partner can stick his/her head out of the door and call someone if you need to.

pain relief is upto you, they can advise, as it isnt always possible to have an epidural (i was 8cm when i got to hospital with my second and so i was to far to have one, but htey advised one with my first as he was back to back and was a long slow delivery, so i had one to sleep and regain a bit of energy) if you dont want one you can refuse, if you want one and they havent mentioned it, ask. you may not feel like talking so make sure your birth partner knows what you want and dont etc if you think you may go that way. (i didnt speak at all in my first labour so second time around i made sure hubby knew i didnt want pethidine or an epidural) take advice from the midwives but dont feel pressured. its your body and baby and nature does take over to a certain extent.

the people in green can be obstetricians/registrars. i had a registrar present at hte birth of my first as he was an emergency vontuse, good luck and try not to stress about it, its a beautiful experience and im gutted i wont be having another natural delivery! x
