i have cleaned my carb. on my 6hp techumseh go-cart engine in carb cleaner (bucket) for 1 day and i put it?
back on but it still is leaking gas out of air filter.. i bent the needle pusher part that touches needle for less gas and it wouldent start cause too little gas but i keep bending to where it starts and it started much easier, however it is still leaking gas.
I have a couple of go-karts I built for my kids. One uses a 10 HP Tecumseh, the other uses a 5. On the 10 HP I had a big problem with the carb. I came to realize that those carbs either run good at idle or they run good at a set speed, they do not like to change speeds or accelerate. They also leak fuel when abused, or used like on a kart. I ended up getting a 22MM Mikuni carb and installing it. I only had to file out the manifold bolts slightly to make it fit, in fact I had my son do that. Now my kart takes of like you shot it out of a cannon and it will rip up to 40 in no time. My kart is built for the dirt and my son is only 10 so I had to make a stop for the gas pedal to restrict the speed. Bottom line, the engine idles well, acelerates good, and is faster than I expected. You can go online to Ebay and search Mikuni carbs. With a 6 HP I would look for an 18MM like I am going to put on my 5 HP. I have found them for around $50.00.
