How many threads do you use to complete Lavender & Lace's "The Wedding"?
I am working on Lavender & Lace's "The Wedding" on 32 Count material. I am not sure to use 1 or 2 strands of thread.
The number of stands that you use depends on the pattern and how big or small you what the finished design to look. When stitching on 14 count Aida cloth you stitched over one strand at a time. When stitching on 28 or 32 count fabric, you are usually stitching over two strands at a time. Or to put it another way-
When stitching over two threads of a 28 count linen it will produce the same size picture as a 14 count Aida. But stitching over one thread of a 28 count linen produces a picture only one quarter the area.
Luckily, most patterns will indicate if you need to stitch over two strands or one. The same goes for how many strands of floss. Usually, you stitch over two threads on the fabric with two strands of floss. You would use one strand of floss and stitch over one thread on very detailed parts like eyes and fingernails.
You can still use a hoop or frame when working on your piece. Oh, before I forget, you will also need to use a smaller needle to stitch with. A #26 needle should work fine.
