Anybody know any good websites to research speaking baby talk to your child when they are over 1 year of age?
I'm doing a research project in my psychology class on this topic. Do you think using baby talk over the age of 1 hurts your child language development? If any of you guys found research on this, please cite your source so i can go to the site and look at it for my project.
You guys could also tell your story if you used baby talk over the age of 1 with your child and how does it affect your child now.

Personally I didn't talk baby talk to either of my children. I don't recall doing it before they were a year old even, but I may have at that point. Both of my children test well above average academically and have been reading since they were just 4 years old. I have gifted children with a grasp of language well beyond the expected levels that a 4th and 3rd grader should have.
My parents didn't use baby talk with me, I taught myself to read at 3, graduated high school at 14 with a 4.5 GPA and was valedictorian of my senior class.
That being said, I honestly believe that by using your "normal" level of vocabulary and your normal tone of voice, just as you would with your peers, you are teaching your child valuable verbal cues as well as vocabulary that will help them to better understand language and it's effectiveness in life.
